Movie News: American Gods casting update, Wonder Woman gets a poster
American Gods, the Neil Gaiman book coming to Starz by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) has another cast member announced: Kristin Chenoweth. She’ll play Easter, the Nordic goddess. Recently other cast announcements included Orlando Jones, Dane Cook and Gillian Anderson. Better yet, Wonder Woman, aka the best part of Batman vs. Superman, depending on who you ask, finally gets her own movie soon. She’ll also get her own stamp from the U.S. Postal Service, and the stamp will be revealed at the event. Now we can say that the movie looks great, judging by the poster. Justice League movie footage was also shown – expect that to leak soon, if it hasn’t already.
Gabriel Luna has been added to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D as Ghost Rider, the show’s creators confirmed. Bates Motel, the show featuring a young Norman Bates, was confirmed to be ending in season 5, while Criminal Minds announced Paget Brewster and Aisha Tyler were headed back to the show. Reviewers also raved by Riverdale, the new CW series based on the Archie comics.
We got a ton of comic coverage at SDCC! First, Injustice 2 was announced, and so was the return of the rock band KISS in comic form. There’s also new art for Teen Titans, Suicide Squad, Harley Quinn, Archie, and more. BOOM is also debuting their new WWE comics, which may be weird, but hey, someone will buy them. There was also news about Dasterdly and Muttley, comics based on the classic Hanna-Barbera characters, plus more new Supergirl comics. Buffy Season 11 is also coming, and we got a look at that at SDCC.
Video Game News
While the attention is often on TV, film and comics, there’s plenty to report for video games from SDCC. First, Red Sonja is getting a video game, and from comic creator Gail Simone! The Walking Dead is getting a game as well, and South Park Studios will give a look at their new South Park video game: Broken But Whole.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, My Little Pony, and plenty of other collectible toys were on display at SDCC. Street Fighter FUNKO Pops, Miss Pergine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Fantastic Beasts, Doctor Strange and more were just a few of the must-haves at the show.
It looks like the rest of SDCC is going to offer even more exciting news! There’s still even more to come about the Justice League movie and more.
