Everyone is losing it over the newly-released Pokemon Go! Pokemon Go, for those not in the know, is an augmented reality game where you use your smartphone to “catch” them all. The game has been in the works for years, and uses your location to display images of Pokemon on your screen. The Japanese server is about to be unveiled, and slowdowns are expected this week, so be patient if you’re new at this and haven’t endured the server meltdowns just yet.

Pokemon Go has received criticism and acclaim from all types of people. Doctors and mental health experts like that it has encouraged gamers to go outside, and indeed, there’s an exercise component to the game. The game has total strangers meeting up in parks, cemeteries, and other places around the country as they try to catch their favorite Pokemon characters. Businesses are even getting into the act offering discounts to Pokemon Go players, and advertising that their place is a Pokestop. Animal shelters in Memphis and other areas are letting Pokemon Go players walk their dogs as volunteers and catch a few Pokemon along the way.

Pokemon Incidents

The launch of Pokemon Go hasn’t been without its incidents. In Baltimore, a driver playing the game ended up hitting a car. Whose car did he hit? A cop car! In response, the Baltimore police shared the video to warn other drivers not to be distracted. An Auburn driver, an ex-marine, got too into trying to “catch” a water creature, and ended up driving into a tree. We’ll say that the Pokemon Go players who have found a dead body are probably having the worst time with the game though. So far, the total of people who found a dead body is at a count of three: one in Wyoming, one in Denmark, and one in New Hampshire. Two people also fell off a cliff while playing the game, and finally, some kids were shot at while in their car in front of a home. Pokemon Go creators, game enthusiasts and the police are warning people that if they’re going to play, play safely, and be aware of their surroundings at all times.

Creating Good with Pokemon Gopokemon-go-hospital

Besides walking dogs as a volunteer, there’s another way you can do good with Pokemon Go. Some fans are urging their fellow players to drop lures to entice Pokemon near hospitals, especially children’s hospitals. However, some hospitals are asking fans NOT to do this, so be sure you check with your local hospital before you do it.

The best thing to remember is to have fun with the game. Choose a team from Mystic, Valor, and Instinct, and get playing.
