It’s Red Nose Day 2016, and if you’ve seen celebrities and friends wearing red clown noses, you may wonder why! Red Nose Day is designed to benefit children in America and overseas, aiming to lift them out of poverty, reaching some of the poorest communities in the world. Twitter even gave the event its own special red nose icon!
It was organized by Comic Relief, and you can participate by purchasing a red clown nose at Walgreens. The red nose was chosen because it represents clowns, a universal symbol for fun. The NBC special for the event airs at 9/8 central on Thursday, May 26 and will feature over 65 celebrities! The special is LIVE and will run for two hours with a big night of “fun and laughs.”
